FIVE TOWNS, ONE FIGHTER: JACK PERRY IS THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE FOR THE 16TH STATE SENATE DISTRICT
Working-class small-business owner heads to November with the unanimous backing of all 38 delegates across the five-town district
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Yesterday, 38 Democratic delegates from across the 16th State Senate district (Cheshire, Prospect, Southington, Waterbury, and Wolcott) endorsed Jack Perry in his campaign to flip the seat.
A former Southington town Councilman, small-business owner, community leader, and father, Perry is running to lower costs for working families, protect access to healthcare, and make sure every voter in the 16th District has a voice in Hartford.
The energy at the convention was palpable: it was the energy of a teacher whose long-neglected voice was heard, the energy of a construction worker who finally saw a true blue-collar fighter, and the energy of a longtime neighbor who knew that Jack Perry would extend his record of results to the State Senate.
“I want to thank every delegate who put their faith in me last night,” Perry said. “I am not running to be a politician. I am running because the people of this district deserve a state senator who will show up, listen, and fight to bring down the cost of living, protect their healthcare, and defend their right to vote. Now, onto November.”
The contrast with the incumbent is sharp. While Sen. Rob Sampson has cast more “no” votes than any other member of his caucus, Perry is running on results: a working-class background, a record of building and hiring in the district, and a commitment to deliver common-sense legislation that helps families across the 16th.
“Jack Perry is the kind of person you want representing you in Hartford,” said John Barry, Southington DTC vice chair and former town councilman. “He has built a business, is raising a family, and has shown up for this community for years. He will be a senator who fights for working families in every corner of the 16th District, and I am proud to stand with him.”
The 16th State Senate district covers Cheshire, Prospect, Southington, Waterbury, and Wolcott. The general election is November 3, 2026.
