Jack Perry Ready to Debate Sampson’s Record
Senator Sampson spent this morning writing public letters about wanting to debate. My answer is already on the record: I have accepted every debate and forum invitation by any independent third party, and I will accept this one as well. Voters deserve to hear from both candidates, compare our records, and ask tough questions.
He's had 16 years in Hartford to build a record, and an entire campaign to explain it. One more event won't change what that record says. But I will never pass up an opportunity to make the distinction between us clear. He voted against making the dollars available. Our communities did the work to bring them home. Now he wants the credit. So let’s debate.
He distorts his record by presenting his “no” votes as proof that he’s representing us. But when those votes oppose investments our communities need, who is he actually representing? A “no” vote does not fund a community project, support a town service, or help a nonprofit keep its doors open. No wordplay can hide that fact, and I look forward to making that clear to the public.
My team will reach out to arrange a time, location, independent moderator, and clear rules. In the meantime, I'll be at the October 13 forum. With early voting beginning October 19, I'll keep doing the work voters expect: knocking on doors, listening, and offering a clear plan to lower costs and deliver for our district.
Jack Perry
Candidate for Connecticut State Senate, 16th District
