Perry Responds to Sampson Campaign Funding Claims
Rob Sampson wants to talk about my campaign account because he can't defend his voting record. Yes, I've put my own money into this race because I value any way that I can help tell my story and the truth about my opponent's 16 years of half-truths and lies about what he has accomplished on our behalf. I will answer to the families of Southington, Wolcott, Prospect, Cheshire and Waterbury - that is why I have spent my money and my time talking to voters throughout this district. People deserve a senator who represents them - not himself.
What matters is whether you can afford groceries, medicine, housing and retirement. In 2023, Connecticut cut income tax rates for the first time in nearly 30 years. The budget lowered taxes for middle-class families, increased the tax credit for working families earning under $60,000, and expanded tax relief on retirees' pensions and annuities.
The Senate passed that budget 35 to 1. Rob Sampson cast the only no vote.
He says he introduced a seniors' tax-relief bill every year. But when real tax relief for seniors and working families came to a vote, he was the only senator in either party who opposed it. Senator Sampson is right about one thing: His votes are public. I hope every voter checks the record. Politicians can attack a mailer, but they cannot erase a 35-to-1 vote. I'll put working families and seniors first, and deliver tax relief you can actually feel.
Jack Perry
Candidate for Connecticut State Senate, 16th District
