Ned Lamont Governor

Dear Governor Lamont,
A working mom in Wolcott pays hundreds of dollars a year in gas tax alone. War rages across the globe, and gas prices soar here at home, all while both parties in Washington fail to deliver an economy where working-class people can get by.
Connecticut families need you to take action, Governor. That starts with a gas tax holiday. If the state government temporarily eliminates its 25-cent-per-gallon tax, hardworking people will feel immediate relief at the pump. Suspending this tax is a direct, meaningful step that your government can take today. With your proposal and approval from the state legislature, a gas tax holiday can become a reality. You did it in 2022, and you can do it again now.
For too long, the working coalition that built this state has been the last priority for politicians. Teachers, electricians, nurses, small business owners, the people who keep Connecticut running, are squeezed first and helped last. A gas tax holiday is a small step, but it tells those families that someone is finally paying attention.
Many hardworking folks across this state have lost faith in our political system. Show them what it looks like when the government takes action to help. Call a special session. Suspend the tax.
Show Connecticut what a government for working people looks like.
Sincerely,
Jack Perry
Candidate for State Senate, District 16
