Jack's Proposal
At the second highest rates of any state in the nation, it's clear that Connecticut has an energy problem. While the national average sits at 17.5 cents per kWh, Connecticut families are drowning at 28 cents per kWh. Eversource has complete control over the energy industry in many parts of the state, and we're suffering financially as a result. As your state senator, I will fight to change this system.
Connecticut needs publicly-owned power grids. Seven towns (Bozrah, Norwich, Groton, Wallingford, Jewett City, and Norwalk) already have them, and the results show clear success with far lower rates than anywhere else in the state. These are nonprofit operations with a goal in mind to serve their residents, not shareholders. Competition in the free market can encourage low prices- but when just one or two giant corporations have control over the entire market. Eversource is gouging Connecticut families of their money, and it's time we put an end to it.
I want the voters of the 16th District to know where I stand on this pressing issue. My campaign has developed a full, in-depth energy platform- the problems we are facing, what has worked, and what we can do moving forward. Read it here.
